SCOUT: Searching for and Rescuing Lost Canines

In 2017, two Colorado women applied their passion for recovering lost canines to form the nonprofit Southern Colorado Observation & Unification Team (SCOUT). They and about twenty volunteers tirelessly coordinate and search for dogs on the run, many of whom escaped from rescue transport vans, new forever or foster homes, vehicles involved in accidents or while on vacation with their humans in strange areas.

A well-bred Labrador became the American Kennel Club’s 2020 recipient of its prestigious Award for Canine Excellence thanks to the dedication of his puppy raiser, his veteran, the breeders of his parents, and so many others who helped socialize and train him. AKC Pee Wees: Youngsters Have Fun at Dog Shows

Parents often bring their young children to dog shows only to find them bored and undoubtedly glued to their electronic devices. One AKC judge recognized this problem about five years ago and sought a diversion to capture their interest. Thanks to his persistence, children ages five to nine now can participate in pee wee classes at AKC shows nationwide. And they love doing so!
